Module 3 - Hurt Little Girls, Insecure Women

FINALLY! Finally, a workbook for adult women, survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This year, like every year, hundreds of thousands of girls will be sexually assaulted in the United States, in Europe and around the world. They will be hurt physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Every aspect of their life will suffer from this. When they become adults, they will be confronted with sexual dysfunctions, difficult relationships, low self-esteem, difficulties with intimacy ... Many will become addicted to drugs, alcohol, or medicines to stop feeling the pain and confusion. Some will self-destruct. Most of them will suffer the effects and consequences of sexual abuse without ever realizing they have been victims. When they hear talking or read about sexual abuse, many women, including men, are unlikely to hear about male victims. They will be able to name many things that have happened or been done to them, but rarely will they see themselves as victims. To add to the tragedy, those who have the courage to seek professional help will often be misdiagnosed: sexual abuse will most likely be overlooked or not taken seriously. The symptoms of the abuse can be addressed, but not the underlying causes of those symptoms. Unfortunately, the stereotypes and myths surrounding sexual abuse and victims mean that the latter do not receive adequate help. "Victimized" as a child, they are neglected as adults.
